BAT screening test
We are continously working on screening versions in different languages of the Bilingual Aphasia Test (BAT), developed by Michel Paradis (Paradis & Libben, 1987) and available in more than 65 language (see the BAT homepage in English and French). The aim of this very short version of the BAT is to allow clinicians to proceed to a screening of each of the languages in patients who are in the acute phase, but also to permit a quick screening of each of the patient's languages in multilinguals. The time needed for testing one language is around 18 minutes in speakers without impairment and less than 30 minutes in persons with aphasia (Gomes & Guilhem, 2011 ; Gomes, Guilhem, Prod'homme & Köpke, 2012).
Each Screening BAT consists in an individual test sheet and a corresponding stimulus book. Both have to be printed on both sides of the paper in order to be used correctly. Instructions for the construction of Screening BATs in new languages are available on the BAT homepage. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
