Conférence invitée de Paul van Geert (Rijksuniversiteit Groningen) auteur de Van Geert, P. (1994). Dynamic systems of development. Change between complexity and chaos. Harvester, New York, 1994.

Résumé : In this talk, I will present a short introduction to the notion of complex dynamic systems as applied to the psychology of development and of life span change, and then present an overview of various developmental studies -- modeling studies as well as empirical research -- conducted in the framework of complex dynamic systems. I will discuss why this work is important for obtaining further insight into the processes of development, and why individual-based studies are a necessary tool in order to increase our understanding in how developmental mechanisms actually operate. I will also address the challenges and limitations of current dynamic systems-inspired work in developmental psychology.
